Career Guidance

Career guidance is one of the most crucial elements in shaping the future of students. According to American economist Neil Howe, only 5% of people end up in careers that align with their true potential and aspirations. This mismatch often leads to dissatisfaction, underemployment, and a waste of human potential. With the support of Management, Entrepreneurship and Professional Sector Skills Council, we aim to address this issue through a structured and sustainable career counselling program for schools.

The Problem Statement

Many students complete their schooling without clear career direction, leading to misinformed choices about further education and professional pathways. The lack of professional career counselling, access to scientific career assessment tools, and expert guidance results in:

To bridge this gap, this initiative will ensure that every student in the constituency has access to structured and data-driven career guidance, enabling them to make informed career decisions.

  • Limited awareness of evolving career opportunities
  • Mismatch between students' skills and career choices
  • High levels of career dissatisfaction and underemployment

Objectives of the Project

Typical Implementation Plan

The project will be implemented in a phased manner to ensure its sustainability and effectiveness:

  • Identify a Point of Contact: Assign a local person who will voluntarily liaise with schools, and other stakeholders.
  • Engage with Schools: Connect with all high schools to introduce the initiative and select teachers for training.
  • Establish School-Level Coordinators: Nominate a career guidance point of contact in each school to facilitate program execution.
  • Enroll the selected teachers from each school into an intensive NCVET-certified training program.
  • Equip them with skills to provide personalized career counselling to students using the AI-powered career assessment system.
  • Certify teachers as Education and Career Counsellors, empowering them to lead career guidance efforts at their respective schools.
  • Organize a large-scale career guidance seminar, inviting students from grades 10, 11, and 12.
  • Bring in experts from various career fields to guide students on different career options, pathways, and admission processes.
  • Introduce students and educators to the AI-powered career assessment platform.
  • Kick-off the Career Guidance Program across all high schools.
  • Ensure that each certified teacher is actively conducting career assessments and guidance sessions using the AI-powered system.
  • Implement a tracking mechanism to monitor the program’s impact and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Establish annual feedback sessions for teachers to upgrade their knowledge and skills.
  • Identifying the person of contact within each school in the district.
  • Training them to be Educational and Career Counselor.
  • Implementing the technology platform.

Sustainability and Long-Term Impact

This initiative ensures a self-sustaining model for career guidance in the constituency by embedding career counselling within the existing school framework. The trained teachers will continue to guide new batches of students each year, ensuring that thousands of students receive structured career advice without additional long-term costs.

Additionally, leveraging AI-driven career assessment tools ensures that students receive scientifically backed career recommendations, increasing their chances of reaching careers that align with their abilities, interests, and aspirations.
